Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has revealed that he recently underwent surgery to address a foot injury.
The 30-year-old, who has endured a challenging season, described his experience as “frustrating” in a post shared on Instagram. Ake was substituted at halftime during City’s 3-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday. This latest setback adds to a season plagued by injuries, including hamstring and muscular issues, limiting him to just ten Premier League appearances so far.
On Monday, Ake posted a photo of himself with his left foot in a cast, expressing optimism despite the difficulties. He wrote:
“This season has been incredibly frustrating for me. However, I’ve now successfully undergone surgery to fix a foot fracture that has troubled me for months. I’m looking forward to recovering and returning stronger! Rest and recovery start now. Thank you for your support, Cityzens—see you soon!”
Manchester City’s next match is against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday. Pep Guardiola’s side currently sits fourth in the league table, trailing third-placed Forest by one point.
